Assynt Development Trust Limited was originally founded in the 1950’s as the Assynt Amenities Committee, changing its name in 1975 to Assynt Community Association (ACA) and becoming a registered charity.

Following the Lochinver Mission closure in 2009 and its redevelopment in 2010-11 ACA became a limited company and acquired the adjacent Culag Park. 

In 2018 the company name was changed to Assynt Development Trust Limited; the company principally benefits the community of the parish of Assynt which matches the Assynt Community Council area.  

In 2021, ADT acquired the freehold ownership of the site of the Mission, by a Community Asset Transfer from Highland Council, and purchased Lochinver Glebe land from Church of Scotland.
